A Supplement Plan for Seniors

The search for the Fountain of Youth is ages old, yet as we move into the next millennium, researchers and customers alike are increasingly interested in gaining some control over the inevitable aging process.

As people get older, physiological changes are unavoidable. They might notice changes in their vision, memory, or sexual function. They might see a subtle loss of strength, their sleeping patterns may change, and digesting food may become more difficult. Visible signs of aging include wrinkles; dry skin with pigment deposits, and loss of elasticity and flexibility; hair loss; and posture deterioration. Aging can also be associated with serious diseases such as arthritis, atherosclerotic heart disease, cancer, diabetes, strokes and even asthma. Other conditions associated with aging are degenerative eye disease and senile dementia. [ 1 ]

It's not all bad, though. Gradual changes are inevitable, but the rate of change is variable. Plus, the development of what are considered the "diseases of aging" may not be as unavoidable as many people think.

In fact, with current knowledge, older customers can design a supplement program to protect them from the age-related decline that typically occurs among people who do not take care of themselves. The following supplements can be added gradually to their plan as they grow older. Start them with a basic comprehensive multivitamin and mineral with enough B complex; basic amounts of vitamin C and E; beta-carotene; trace minerals including chromium, copper, manganese, selenium and zinc; and, if possible, adequate magnesium and calcium, which may need to be taken separately because of their bulk.

Start by suggesting that people older than 40 take 400–800 IU of vitamin E per day, up to 4,000 mg/day vitamin C, 50–100 mg/day Co-Q10, and if they have trouble sleeping, 1–3 mg melatonin at bedtime. It is also a good time to incorporate mixed bioflavonoids (1–2 g daily), specifically quercetin for the heart, liver and stomach [ 2-4 ] and proanthocyanidins for the brain, kidneys, eyes and blood vessels. [ 5-8 ]

Dietary supplements protect the body from accelerated aging processes in a variety of ways. They enhance metabolic functions that protect against several age–related health problems. They also help detoxify harmful substances produced in the normal course of metabolism. Most of the supplements discussed here have some antioxidant activity, or they recycle antioxidants after they have spent themselves quenching free radicals. (For more on the role of free radicals in aging, see p. 562) Some of the supplements are important cofactors for the activity of antioxidant enzymes. They are arranged in order of importance and availability.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that enhances immune function and protects against cancer, heart disease, diabetic retinopathy and kidney disease. In 1990, researchers at the Tufts University USDA Human Nutrition Research Laboratory on Aging showed that 800 IU of vitamin E per day enhanced immune function in the elderly. [ 9 ] In addition to enhanced cell-mediated immunity, they found vitamin E reduced formation of lipid peroxides, which can damage cell membranes and arterial lining cells and eventually lead to heart disease and diminished cellular function. Vitamin E also restored the levels of interleukins 2 and 6 to those seen in younger people, thereby restoring normal immune function. More recent studies show immune benefit with vitamin E doses as low as 200 IU per day.

Many studies show vitamin E protects against different cancers. A population-based study conducted between 1984 and 1985 showed reduced oral and esophageal cancer in those who regularly supplemented with vitamin E. [ 10 ] In addition, vitamin E helps prevent the most common cause of death, arteriosclerotic heart disease. A 1989 report said serum levels of vitamin E are a better predictor of heart disease risk than cholesterol. [ 11 ] People with the highest blood levels of vitamin E had the lowest risk of heart disease.

More recently, researchers using megadoses of vitamin E have shown reversal of diabetic retinopathy and kidney disease. [ 12 ] This was a small eight-month trial with 36 patients. After four months, circulation to the retinal vessels improved in patients who took 1,800 IU vitamin E per day, and the improvement was maintained during the withdrawal period. Retinopathy and nephropathy are but two examples of the accelerated aging process in diabetics that can be slowed down by vitamin E supplements.

Vitamin C, another protective antioxidant, reduces the risk of age-related diseases, including oxidative damage. One sign of this damage is abnormal function of cells lining the arteries, called endothelium. These cells produce nitric oxide, also known as endothelial-derived relaxing factor. In one study, researchers gave patients with coronary artery disease 2,000 mg of vitamin C two hours before testing how well their arteries relaxed. Compared with a placebo group, there was a significant improvement in arterial dilation. [ 13 ]

Vitamin C has numerous mechanisms of action that suggest it can help slow the aging process. It also helps prevent cancer and heart disease. Vitamin C enhances wound healing, improves collagen production and stimulates immunity. [ 14 ] In a prospective study in Switzerland, vitamin C, independent of other beneficial antioxidants, was associated with reduced heart disease risk. [ 15 ] The authors of that study suggest the benefits of antioxidants are likely to be greater when they are all available in adequate amounts because they work together to protect against free radicals.

Carotenoids help retard the aging process as well as treat age-related diseases. As of 1995, a total of 21 carotenoids had been identified in human blood. [ 16 ] All of them function as antioxidants. Beta-carotene, probably the best known carotenoid, may enhance immune function when 25,000­50,000 mg is taken daily. [ 17 ] It is associated with lower risks of cancer and heart disease. Lycopene, abundant in tomatoes but also available as a supplement, is the most prevalent carotenoid in the serum. People with the highest lycopene levels have the lowest rate of age-related macular degeneration (ARMD). [ 18 ] Lycopene helps to prevent prostate cancer and in doses of 15 mg per day may help to slow its progression. [ 19 ] Two other carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin, are also related to the prevention of ARMD. [ 20 ]

Mineral cofactors enable antioxidant enzymes, which are produced in the body and include superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and various peroxidases such as glutathione peroxidase. In the mitochondria, SOD depends on manganese, and in the rest of the cell SOD depends on zinc and copper. Catalase is dependent on iron as a cofactor, but excess iron can actually lead to increased free radical generation. Glutathione peroxidase depends on adequate selenium as well as adequate glutathione, a sulfur-containing amino acid derived from glutamine. A typical selenium dose is 200 mcg per day.

Zinc levels decline with age in both animals and humans. As the thymus gland ages, it shrinks and loses its vigor in a process called involution resulting in decreased cellular immunity. Zinc supplements prevent thymus involution and enhance the activity of the thymic hormone thymulin. [ 21 ] In elderly diabetic patients, zinc supplements can restore some deficits of T-cell function and thus enhance immunity. [ 22 ] Zinc deficiencies lead to conditions commonly associated with the aging process––immune deficiencies, impaired wound healing and lowered resistance to infection. [ 23 ] An adequate dose is 30 mg per day with 2­3 mg copper.

Coenzyme Q10 (Co-Q10) also helps protect against oxidation and age-related diseases. It is essential for energy production in the mitochondria, especially in the heart. It can reduce damage to the heart muscle in ischemic heart disease. Researchers in one study found that 20 mg/kg of Co-Q10 injected into muscle and 10 mg/kg injected into the abdominal cavity increased aerobic energy production and protected enzymes from free radical damage. [ 24 ] In an animal study, cell membrane damage was prevented with 10 mg/kg/day oral Co-Q10 when challenged with adriamycin, a chemotherapeutic agent that induces cell membrane damage. [ 25 ]

In addition, Co-Q10 can prevent acetaminophen-induced liver damage through peroxidation, adding evidence to its role in free-radical protection. [ 26 ]Typical preventive doses of Co-Q10 would be 50­100 mg daily, but if someone has signs of age-related disease--particularly cancer, heart disease or immune disorders--the dose may be increased to 100­400 mg daily.

Herbs and flavonoids can help prevent and treat age-related conditions, though it is impossible to thoroughly cover all of them in this review. For example, silymarin, found in the berries of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) protects the liver and helps control blood sugar; [ 27 ] St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) treats depression, a common problem in the elderly; [ 28 ] while hawthorn berry (Crataegus spp.), [ 29 ] garlic (Allium spp.) [ 30 ] and proanthocyanidins from grape seeds [ 7 ] protect the heart and the eyes. Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) and pygeum (Prurrus africana) help prostate disorders common in men older than 50. [ 31,32 ] Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) preserves memory, [ 33 ] reduces vertigo, and improves small blood vessel circulation that helps with the functional signs of atherosclerosis. [ 34 ] Memory loss is one of the most distressing signs of aging. I recommend 60 mg of standardized ginkgo extract two or three times a day.

Melatonin and DHEA supplements may slow the aging process, as shown in animal studies and strongly suggested by their mechanisms of action. Melatonin, produced by the pineal gland, is a powerful antioxidant hormone that protects the brain, particularly by scavenging the damaging hydroxyl free radical. [ 35 ] Melatonin production declines with age, and it is associated with age-related disorders. Melatonin appears valuable against Alzheimer's disease. [ 36 ] It is thought to protect brain cells from the oxidative damage that may lead to brain deterioration. Antioxidants that might protect the brain need to cross the barrier between blood and the brain, and melatonin readily does so, where it protects nerve receptors from oxidative damage. [ 37 ] Melatonin enhances many parameters of immune function. [ 38 ]Typical doses of melatonin range from 1­6 mg, always taken at bedtime.

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is another hormone that declines with age. According to several review articles, supplements appear to help many conditions that are usually age related, including Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, immune function decline and osteoporosis. Low levels of DHEA are also associated with increased cardiac disease. I recommend 5­100 mg daily, but people taking more than 5 mg/day should have their blood levels monitored.

Customers with specific health problems can customize their plan: higher doses of chromium for diabetics, garlic and Co-Q10 for heart disease, lutein and lycopene for eye disease, and saw palmetto for prostate enlargement.

Many supplements can help prevent or treat the diseases of aging. It is always best to combine them with a healthful diet and other supportive practices. With the proper choices, your customers should have no trouble keeping away from serious health problems. We know enough to empower everyone to control these age-related conditions and be vibrant, productive and fully functional into their golden years.

How to Detox Fluorides from Your Body


You can rid you body of most fluorides with some easy natural remedies. Fluorides have been linked to a variety of severe chronic, even acute health issues. First a quick review summary of fluoride.Fluoride Toxicity

Fluoride is a soluble salt, not a heavy metal. There are two basic types of fluoride. Calcium fluoride appears naturally in underground water sources and even seawater. Enough of it can cause skeletal or dental fluorosis, which weakens bone and dental matter. But it is not nearly as toxic, nor does it negatively affect so many other health issues as sodium fluoride, which is added to many water supplies.

Sodium Fluoride is a synthetic waste product of the nuclear, aluminum, and phosphate fertilizer industries. This fluoride has an amazing capacity to combine and increase the potency of other toxic materials. The sodium fluoride obtained from industrial waste and added to water supplies is also already contaminated with lead, aluminum, and cadmium.

It damages the liver and kidneys, weakens the immune system, possibly leading to cancer, creates symptoms that mimic fibromyalgia, and performs as a Trojan Horse to carry aluminum across the blood brain barrier. The latter is recognized as a source of the notorious "dumbing down" with lower IQ's and Alzheimer's effects of fluoride.

Another not commonly known organ victim of fluorosis is the pineal gland, located in the middle of the brain. The pineal gland can become calcified from fluorides, inhibiting it's function as a melatonin producer. Melatonin is needed for sound, deep sleep, and the lack of it also contributes to thyroid problems that affect the entire endocrine system. The pineal gland is also considered the physical link to the upper chakras or third eye for spiritual and intuitive openings.

Various permutations of Sodium Fluoride are also in many insecticides for homes and pesticides for crops. Sometimes it is even added to baby foods and bottled waters. If you live in a water fluoridated area, purchase commercially grown fruits, especially grapes, and vegetables that are chemically sprayed and grown areas irrigated by fluoridated water, you are getting a triple whammy! Better skip that fluoridated toothpaste!

Avoiding Fluoride Contamination

As always, the first step in detoxifying is to curb taking in toxins. Purifying water by reverse osmosis or distillation in fluoridated water communities is a good start to slowing down your fluoride contamination. Distillation comes with a bit of controversy, as all the minerals are removed. A great mineral supplement such as Fulvic Acid (not folic acid) or unsulfured blackstrap molasses is recommended if you distill your water.

Avoiding sprayed, commercially grown foods while consuming organic or locally grown foods is another big step. Watch out for processed foods such as instant tea, grape juice products, and soy milk for babies. They all contain high concentrations of sodium fluoride. So do many pharmaceutical "medicines". By minimizing your sodium fluoride intake, your body can begin eliminating the fluorides in your system slowly.

Magnesium is a very important mineral that many are lacking. Besides being so important in the metabolism and synthesis of nutrients within your cells, it also inhibits the absorption of fluoride into your cells! Along with magnesium, calcium seems to help attract the fluorides away from your bones and teeth, allowing your body to eliminate those toxins. So during any detox efforts with fluoride, it is essential that you include a healthy supplemental dose of absorbable calcium/magnesium as part of the protocol.

So Now Let's Speed Up the Fluoride Detox

This author received a comment stating that an earlier article's source reference to sunlight for decalcifying the pineal gland was inaccurate. He said that darkness, not light, is needed to stimulate the pineal gland into melatonin production, which should lead to breaking up the calcification of that gland. Besides being logical, further source research indicates the critic is correct!

Day time exercise, a healthful diet, not over eating, and meditation all contribute to higher melatonin production from the pineal gland. Though very helpful to many for getting a full night's deep sleep, it appears inconclusive whether melatonin supplements will help decalcify the pineal gland. But it does seem logical that it might.

Iodine supplementation has been clinically demonstrated to increase the urine irrigation of sodium fluoride from the body as calcium fluoride. The calcium is robbed from your body, so make sure you are taking effective calcium and magnesium supplements. Lecithin is recommended as an adjunct to using iodine for excreting fluorides.

Iodine is another nutrient lacking in most diets and causing hypothyroid symptoms of lethargy or metabolic imbalances. Eating lots of seafood for iodine has it's constantly rising mercury hazards. Seaweed foods and iodine supplements that combine iodine and potassium iodide are highly recommended over sea food by most.

Tamarind, originally indigenous to Africa but migrated into India and southeast Asia, has been used medicinally in Ayurvedic Medicine. The pulp, bark, and leaves from the tree can be converted to teas and strong tinctures, which have also shown the ability to eliminate fluorides through the urine.

Liver Cleanses are considered effective for eliminating fluorides and other toxins. There are two types of liver cleansing, both of which can be performed easily at home over a week or two of time. One of the protocols focuses on the liver itself , and the other cleanses the gall bladder, which is directly connected with liver functions. Simple instructions for both can be found on line with search engine inquiries.

Boron was studied in other parts of the world with pronounced success for fluoride detoxification. Borox, which contains boron, has a history of anecdotal success for detoxifying sodium fluoride. Yes, this is the borox you can find in the laundry aisles of some supermarkets. It needs to be taken in with pure water in small quantities.

As little as 1/32 of a teaspoon to 1/4 of a teaspoon in one liter of water consumed in small quantities throughout the day is what has been demonstrated as safe and effective. Around 1/8 of a teaspoon with a pinch of pure sea salt in a liter consumed in small quantities daily has been reported to have dramatic results. There is the possibility of a food grade version with sodium borate, if you can find it.

Dry Saunas combined with exercise releases sodium fluoride stored in fatty tissues. It can be intense enough to cause side effects or an occasional healing crisis. So keep the pure water intake high and drink some chickweed tea to protect the kidneys while using a highly absorbable cal/mag supplement. Lecithin is another useful adjunct to this protocol for fluoride detoxification.

Those Adjuncts to the Listed Remedies

Vitamin C in abundance was not mentioned as a helpful adjunct. It is now. But do not use ascorbic acid as your vitamin C source for an adjunct to any of the fluoride detox methods. Do take in as much other types of vitamin C as you can tolerate, along with a couple of tablespoons of lecithin daily. Add those to your absorbable calcium and magnesium supplements with plenty of pure water, get good sleep and rest, and the detox should be relatively smooth.

Chelation therapies are recommended primarily for heavy metal removals. Though fluorides are salts, the synthetic waste product variety, sodium fluoride, comes with a cargo of toxic heavy metals. And these pernicious salts have a way of combining more heavy metals. So including any one of several chelation therapies may be beneficial for overall health improvements while applying your chosen fluoride remedy or remedies.

Those include bentonite clay internally or externally, fulvic acid (NOT folic acid), cilantro pesto with chlorella, and even DMSA or any other chellation therapy with which you are familiar.

Red alert: Fukushima nuclear reactor 4 possibly collapsing, say sources, mass evacuations may be necessary

After enduring many months of total information blackout on the situation, an intelligence source connected with NaturalNews has just informed us that Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactor 4 may now be on the verge of collapsing, and that mass evacuations in northern Japan could be necessary if such a collapse occurs and is confirmed.

NaturalNews presents this only as a precautionary alert, as we have not yet been about to double or triple confirm this report, but we are actively investigating and will bring you updates in a timely manner.

Reactor 4, you may remember, had been given the silent treatment by the plant's operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), immediately following the massive earthquake and tsunami that struck the fragile plant back in March. For weeks, the public was left in the dark about the status of reactor 4's cooling pools, and about whether or not the reactor's spent fuel rods were exposed (http://www.naturalnews.com/031758_F...).

It now appears, however, that reactor 4's cooling tower, which had previously been reported to be leaning and in danger of falling (http://enenews.com/very-very-seriou...), is now following course with its inevitable fate, which is a possible total collapse.

According to our source, the entire reactor 4 structure has been deemed "highly unstable," and the south wall of the reactor appears to be headed into an imminent structural failure. This situation, of course, is extremely dangerous and could have devastating consequences for Northern Japan as well as North America, which is why mass evacuations in Japan would be a likely outcome in the hours following such a collapse.

Confirmed: Fukushima disaster contaminated ocean with 50 million times normal radiation, leaks still ongoing

Things are suddenly heating up again with Fukushima. As we reported yesterday, the southern wall of Fukushima reactor #4 apparently collapsed over the past few days, calling into question the structural integrity of the remainder of the containment building (http://www.naturalnews.com/034387_F...).

The mainstream media has said absolutely nothing about this development, continuing its pattern of downplaying news involving Fukushima, radiation or the flawed structure of nuclear power plants. This is hardly surprising, given that many of the largest media outlets (such as NBC and MSNBC) are owned by corporations such as General Electric, the designer of many of the world's nuclear power plants. Photos of the failed structure have emerged on Enenews.com, where a report explains that a once-intact wall is now essentially "missing" and that further degradation of the structure could lead to mass evacuations in Japan (http://enenews.com/report-confirmed...). As this report is still not confirmed by other sources, we continue to take this with a sense of caution here at NaturalNews. We will continue to monitor the situation and report any relevant developments.

50 million times higher radiation levels

What has hit the mainstream media, however, is a report entitled Impacts of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plants on Marine Radioactivity, authored by Ken Buesseler, Michio Aoyama, and Masao Fukasawa (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021...).

This report, published in Environmental Science & Technology, reveals that levels of radioactive cesium reached 50 million times normal levels in the ocean water off the coast of the Fukushima Dai-ichi facility. Even more concerning, the abstract of this paper concludes, "...the concentrations through the end of July remain higher than expected implying continued releases from the reactors or other contaminated sources, such as groundwater or coastal sediments."

This, of course, contradicts mainstream media reports which for the most part stated that the radiation was "contained" and was not leaking directly into the environment. Only the alternative press has covered the real story on Fukushima, which has now become the worst radiological accident in the history of human civilization.

This same study ultimately concludes that this level of radiation contamination of the ocean is essentially harmless, stating, "...dose calculations suggest minimal impact on marine biota or humans due to direct exposure in surrounding ocean waters, though considerations for biological uptake and consumption of seafood are discussed and further study is warranted." That's a conclusion to be viewed with skepticism and caution, of course, as it says on one hand that "it's no problem" and yet on the other hand, maybe you shouldn't eat the seafood because we really don't know what quantity and concentration of radioactive elements may be ingested and concentrated by seafood sources.

Radioactive strontium admittedly leaked into the ocean

Another important development now surfacing is that TEPCO has finally admitted that alarming quantities of radioactive strontium (which has roughly a 30-year half life) have leaked into the ocean -- and that the leaks are ongoing!

According to TEPCO, which has repeatedly and deliberately lied to the public in order to downplay any "bad news" about radiological leaks, "26 billion becquerels of radioactive materials" have leaked into the ocean due to the Fukushima accident. (http://www.japantoday.com/category/...)

"This suggests that the releases have not ended, so that is of concern," said Ken Buesseler from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. "If the contaminants end up in the marine sediments / muds, then they will remain there for decades to come, and thus potentially be of concern for benthic biota and consumers of benthic fish/shell fish, i.e. any local filter feeders near the source waters at the coast." The worst may be yet to come

What's clear from all this is that:

• The Fukushima facility remains highly unstable and could dramatically worsen, especially if another earthquake or tsunami strikes the area and causes further degradation of the structural integrity of containment buildings which still house nuclear fuel rods.

• The Fukushima catastrophe is, without question, the most massive radiological disaster ever recorded in human history.

• The mainstream media has consistently (intentionally?) downplayed the severity of the Fukushima disaster, perhaps to try to calm fears by denying the true extent of the problem.

But in order to fully implement the ultimate goal of total control and tyranny, the federal government is now actively collecting the names of individuals that are preparing for the future by buying and storing emergency food supplies.

Oath Keepers, an association of active servicemen devoted to upholding their oath of guarding the republic and protecting individual liberty, has reported that federal agents recently paid a visit to a Latter Day Saints food storage cannery in Tennessee (http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2011/12...). Though they had no reason to be there, these agents allegedly interrogated the facility's manager and demanded to see a list of customers that had purchased, and were storing, food there.

Oath Keepers Tennessee Chapter President Rand Cardwell confirmed the incident, according to reports, as he is in close contact with a fellow veteran who happens to store his own food at the facility in question. According to the man's account, agents entered the facility and began demanding payment records and personal information for everyone connected with the operation.

"The manager informed the agents that the facility kept no such records and that all transactions were conducted on a cash-and-carry basis," Cardwell is quoted as saying, concerning the incident. "The agents pressed for any record of personal checks, credit card transactions, etc., but the manager could provide no such record. The agents appeared to become very agitated and after several minutes of questioning finally left with no information."

This unprovoked act of intimidation is highly concerning, but it is also somewhat contradictory. On the one hand, the federal government has been instilling fear into the American public for years, and has even made announcements urging the public to be prepared. But on the other hand, this same government is now pursuing those who are heeding these precautions as if they are terrorists.

Oath Keepers suggests the government might be trying to gather intelligence on food-storing Americans in order to later come and confiscate that food, or worse -- after all, freedom-loving patriots who are preparing for social upheaval are a threat to the power structure that seeks to tighten the noose of tyranny around the neck of society.

Note: This post came out years ago, but I feel it needs to be brought to light. I heard on the news a few days ago that there is a link between breast cancer, corn and grains in the diet. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a source of information on these new findings - so am posting this for my readers.

A new study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Mile Markers, and Prevention is presenting evidence of the link between the consumption of refined carbohydrates and cancer. This case-controlled study looked at the dietary habits of over 1,800 women in Mexico, and found that those who got 57% or more of their total energy intake from carbohydrates showed a 220% higher risk of breast cancer than women with more balanced diets.

This study shows that foods with high glycemic index values -- that is, foods that more quickly raise blood sugar levels in the human body -- actually accelerate the growth of cancer cells and tumors in the human body. Researchers involved with the study propose that the correlation between the consumption of refined carbohydrates and breast cancer could be related to elevated levels of insulin and the fact that many breast cancer tumors are encouraged and supported by high levels of insulin in the body.

To anyone who has read some of the books about sugar, refined carbohydrates, low carb dieting, or even my own book, called Low carb Diet Warning, none of this should be a surprise. We in the holistic nutrition world have long known that the consumption of processed carbohydrates actually causes cancer, and not just breast cancer, either. It actually promotes many forms of cancer, including colon cancer. Thankfully, new scientific evidence is now appearing that supports these notions.

But many people in the general public still do not know that consuming refined carbohydrates causes cancer, and thus they continue to drink soft drinks containing high-fructose corn syrup, they continue to eat breakfast cereals loaded with sugars and corn syrup, and they continue to eat large amounts of white flour in products like pancakes, breads, pastries, cookies, and crackers, oblivious to the idea that they are actually giving themselves cancer.

Once again, we see that preventing cancer comes down to dietary choice. One of the easiest things a person can do to prevent cancer, based on this research, is to avoid all processed carbohydrates. That means eliminating from your diet refined white flour, refined white sugar, milled grains, and ingredients like high-fructose corn syrup. These ingredients are all man-made or artificially processed ingredients that are not normally found in nature. You don't find refined white sugar growing in the sugar cane fields. You don't see white flour growing on wheat grass stalks in the field. Instead, you see whole grains growing in nature, and it is these whole grains that should be consumed by human beings if they wish to attain a high degree of health.

This research also indicates why low carb dieters and people following the Atkins diet may be doing themselves a huge favor in terms of disease prevention. Avoiding processed carbohydrates reduces your risk of being diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, many low carb dieters, as you may know, end up consuming other cancer-causing ingredients that are present in many low carb foods. Those ingredients can include sodium nitrite, monosodium glutamate, and artificial chemical sweeteners such as aspartame, also known as NutraSweet.

So, the real story here is to avoid processed carbohydrates as much as you can. Some doctors theorize that candida or other systemic fungal infections cause or at the very least contribute to the development of cancer. This makes sense. There is a simple test to tell if you have candida overgrowth.
First thing in the morning, before you put ANYTHING in your mouth, get a clear glass of water. Better still; leave it by your bed the night before. Work up a bit of saliva, and then spit it into the glass of water.
Check the water every 15 minutes or so for up to one hour. If you have a candida yeast infection, strings (like legs) will travel down into the water from the saliva floating on top, or "cloudy" saliva will sink to the bottom of the glass, or cloudy specks will seem to be suspended in the water. If nothing develops in 30 to 45 minutes, you are probably candida free.
Some doctors implicate fungi as a cause of leukemia. In 1999 Meinolf Karthaus, MD, watched three different children with leukemia suddenly go into remission upon receiving a triple antifungal drug cocktail for their "secondary" fungal infections. 

In 1997 Mark Bielski stated that leukemia, whether acute or chronic, is intimately associated with the yeast, Candida albicans, which mutates into a fungal form when it overgrows.
Milton White, MD. believed that cancer is a chronic, infectious, fungus disease. He was able to find fungal spores in every sample of cancer tissue he studied. Some other doctors agree with him. Such as the Italian doctor who has his patients take a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, baking soda, in a glass of water half an hour before breakfast. This alkalinized the digestive tract so that it would help eliminate candida. 

Author Doug Kaufmann asserts that fungi in foods may play a role in cancer. He has seen children become free of their documented leukemia once the child's parents simply changed the child's diet. Kaufmann's diet is base on the widely published problem of mycotoxin contamination of our grain foods. 

Grains such as corn, wheat, barley, sorghum, and other foods such as peanuts, are commonly contaminated with cancer-causing fungal poisons called mycotoxins. One of them, called aflatoxin, just happens to be the most carcinogenic substance on earth. 

He says we consume, on average, from 0.15mg to 0.5mg of aflatoxin per day. So it is not sugar alone that is the problem in our western diet, but fungal toxins that are found in the sugary grains. More than once has Kaufmann interviewed a caller (on his health talk show) who absolutely craved peanut butter and popcorn just prior to their diagnosis of cancer. 

Kaufmann feels that antibiotics may play a role in this. Antibiotics destroy the normal, protective gut bacteria, allowing intestinal yeast and fungi to grow unchecked. Resulting in Candida overgrowth. This can lead to immune suppression, symptoms of autoimmune diseases, or even cancer.

How To Cure Hypothyroidism Naturally

It is estimated that around 10 million Americans suffer from hypothyroidism, with it most often striking women.  It is a condition whereby the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones.  It is usually caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is a condition in which the immune system targets the thyroid gland.  Thus, the establishment considers it to be yet another "autoimmune disease".  In actuality, the immune system only attacks things which are detected to be toxic.  Poisoned thyroid glands are very common, due to our modern diets.

How To Cure Hypothyroidism
Please note that curing hypothyroidism requires a long term religious commitment for a period of at least a year.  Creating this problem took years of self poisoning, so fixing it is neither quick, nor easy.
  • Eliminate Soy: Soy suppresses thyroid function, imbalances hormones and has been shown to cause goiters (an enlargement of the thyroid gland) in previously healthy individuals.
  • Adhere to an Alkaline Diet: This is extremely helpful when curing any chronic disease.  Use the pH food chart to guide you on alkaline/acidic foods.
  • Balance Estrogen Levels (Women): Excess estrogen slows down the thyroid gland.  This means eliminating birth control medications, increasing the fiber in the diet, and avoiding all non-organic meats.  Growth hormones in meats lead imbalance in the hormones.  Reduce dairy intake, because milk often contains lots of estrogen; primarily because cows are milked frequently during pregnancy.
  • Exercise: Without regular exercise, optimal health can never be reached.  Find a physical activity that you enjoy, and do it often.  We believe that exercise could half the cure time.
  • L-Tyrosine: Tyrosine is a natural amino acid which helps the body produce its own thyroid hormone.  This is also known to help with the depression, which usually accompanies hypothyroidism.  Most naturopaths recommend 500 mg. taken 2-3 times day.
  • L-Arginine: Arginine is known to stimulate the thyroid and its hormones. It also improves immune function, improves fertility, and alleviates erectile dysfunction.
  • Avoid ALL SOURCES of Fluoride:  As already mentioned, fluoride suppresses the thyroid, and is likely to be the leading cause of hypothyroidism.  Drink spring water, avoid soft drinks, use fluoride-free toothpaste, use a shower filter, and throw away your non-stick pans.
  • Eat a natural diet:  To help your body to heal itself, you need to remove strains on its immune system.  This means that all processed foods, artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, white flour, white sugar, "table" salt, hydrogenated oils, aluminum, high fructose corn syrup, and etc. should be eliminated from the diet.  Organic food is always the ideal.  Do not trust marketing that reads "All Natural", because this phrase is unregulated, and thus anyone can use it for practically anything.  Read the ingredients to verify.
  • Iodine: The thyroid needs iodine to function properly, and lots of people now suffer from iodine deficiencies.  To test yourself, place some Iodine (we use 2%) on your stomach.  Make a dot the size of a silver dollar (or twice the size of a British 50p).  If it disappears within 12 hours, then you are iodine deficient.  Keep adding iodine in this way, until it no longer disappears in a 12-hour period.  This works due to the fact that the body absorbs iodine at the rate at which it is needed. Do not use povidone-iodine and do not orally consume iodine.  This is especially an important precaution for those with Hashimoto's.
  • Pears: The ancient Chinese discovered that pears have a powerful tendency to balance hormones; especially in women.  Try the pear juice recipe, and drink it regularly.
  • Bladderwrack: Bladderwrack will increase your iodine intake safely.
  • Zinc and Selenium: Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels.  Never take zinc on an empty stomach.
  • Coconut Oil: You should buy organic, cold pressed, coconut oil from a health food store.  Take around 1 teaspoon of it daily.  You can also use it to cook with, but be warned that it smokes at low cooking temperatures.  Unlike most modern oils, its smoke is not poisonous.  Coconut oil speeds the metabolism, encourages production of the thyroid hormone, and kills candida.
  • Avoid Canola Oil: Canola oil interferes with the production of thyroid hormones, amongst its many other dangers.  Treat canola oil like the God-forsaken, genetically engineered, poison that it is.
If depression due to hypothyroidism is a problem, try taking St. John’s Wort to help elevate your mood.  Do not take St. John's Wort while pregnant, and research before using it if you are currently taking any pharmaceuticals.  Some pharmaceuticals can react with St. John's Wort.  It can cause abortions.  Do not use it as birth control, because herbal birth control is more likely to cause horrific birth defects than terminate pregnancies.  Only 'conventional' medicine is reliably effective in killing.
Chronic constipation can be addressed by adding additional dietary fiber such as psyllium to your diet.  You will also want to take flax seed oil, and combine it with a high-sulfur food like cottage cheese.  Flax seed oil is very helpful for those suffering with chronic constipation.
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
There is a lot of conflicting information on the internet regarding the application of iodine in those with Hashimoto's, so it is prudent that we comment.  Dosage is especially important in these cases, as the overdose of iodine can cause the thyroid to shut down completely.  However, a small amount of iodine does help this condition.  Problems occur in those who take potassium iodide supplements, and those who take internal iodine drops.  However, we have not found any evidence of this in those who apply iodine transdermally.  Remember that the transdermal application allows the body to regulate the absorption at its own rate.
Prologue
Like all modern epidemics, hypothyroidism is created from a poor diet and lifestyle, and it will only be corrected when that changes.  Hypothyroidism can be cured using the protocol above, but it will take time; just as it took time for this condition to occur.  The protocol will give you freedom from the medical establishment, which would otherwise make you into a perpetual victim.  Our recommendations are safer, cheaper, and dramatically more effective in the long term.

While the application of scientific knowledge creates technology, sometimes the technology is later redefined by science. Such is the case with terahertz (THz) radiation, the energy waves that drive the technology of the TSA: back scatter airport scanners.

Emerging THz technological applications

THz waves are found between microwaves and infrared on the electromagnetic spectrum. This type of radiation was chosen for security devices because it can penetrate matter such as clothing, wood, paper and other porous material that's non-conducting.

This type of radiation seems less threatening because it doesn't penetrate deeply into the body and is believed to be harmless to both people and animals.

THz waves may have applications beyond security devices. Research has been done to determine the feasibility of using the radiation to detect tumors underneath the skin and for analyzing the chemical properties of various materials and compounds. The potential marketplace for THz driven technological applications may generate many billions of dollars in revenue.

Because of the potential profits, intense research on THz waves and applications has mushroomed over the last decade.

Health risks

The past several years the possible health risks from cumulative exposure to THz waves was mostly dismissed. Experts pointed to THz photons and explained that they are not strong enough to ionize atoms or molecules; nor are they able to break the chains of chemical bonds. They assert—and it is true—that while higher energy photons like ultraviolet rays and X-rays are harmful, the lower energy ones like terahertz waves are basically harmless. [Softpedia.com]

While that is true, there are other biophysics at work. Some studies have shown that THZ can cause great genetic harm, while other similar studies have shown no such evidence of deleterious affects.

Boian Alexandrov at the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico recently published an abstract with colleagues, "DNA Breathing Dynamics in the Presence of a Terahertz Field" that reveals very disturbing—even shocking—evidence that the THz waves generated by TSA scanners is significantly damaging the DNA of the people being directed through the machines, and the TSA workers that are in close proximity to the scanners throughout their workday.

From the abstracts own synopsis:

"We consider the influence of a terahertz field on the breathing dynamics of double-stranded DNA. We model the

spontaneous formation of spatially localized openings of a damped and driven DNA chain, and find that linear instabilities lead to dynamic dimerization, while true local strand separations require a threshold amplitude mechanism. Based on our results we argue that a specific terahertz radiation exposure may significantly affect the natural dynamics of DNA, and thereby influence intricate molecular processes involved in gene expression and DNA replication."

In layman's terms what Alexandrov and his team discovered is that the resonant effects of the THz waves bombarding humans unzips the double-stranded DNA molecule. This ripping apart of the twisted chain of DNA creates bubbles between the genes that can interfere with the processes of life itself: normal DNA replication and critical gene expression.

Other studies have not discovered this deadly effect on the DNA because the research only investigated ordinary resonant effects.

Nonlinear resonance, however, is capable of such damage and this sheds light on the genotoxic effects inherent in the utilization of THz waves upon living tissue. The team emphasizes in their abstract that the effects are probabilistic rather than deterministic.

Unfortunately, DNA damage is not limited only to THz wave exposure. Other research has been done that reveals lower frequency microwaves used by cell phones and Wi-Fi cause some harm to DNA over time as well. Wed, 2011-01-05 03:23 — dave (NaturalNews) When India's seed economy was forced by the World Bank to become globalized in the late 1990s, economic conditions within the nation's agricultural sector almost immediately took a nosedive for the worst. Much of the common Indian seed stock turned from saveable heirloom varieties to patented, genetically-modified (GM) varieties that expire after a single use and require the application of expensive and cumbersome pesticides in order to grow, which plunged many Indian farmers into abject poverty. And nearly 25 years later, the devastating effects of this corporate takeover of Indian agriculturehas resulted in countless suicides, 200,000 of which have occurred just in the past ten years.

According to a recent report in theU.K. Independent, many Indian farmershave lost their farms and land over the past several decades. One of the primary causes is failed investments by farmers that banked heavily on the success of newly-introduced GM crops. Multinational biotechnology giants like Monsantoand Syngenta promised farmers that GM cropswould bring incredible yields at lower costs, and save the country from poverty. But in reality, many of the crops ended up failing, leaving millions of Indian farmers with absolutely nothing.

"One farmer every 30 minutes (commits suicide) in India now, and sometimes three in one family," explained Palagummi Sainath, an Indian journalist, to theU.K. Independent. Left with nowhere to turn and a complete loss of their livelihoods, many farmers are literally drinking their crop pesticides. And since many of these suicides go unreported or unnoticed, actual rates could be even higher than those reported.

Years of drought and poor agricultural policy are also to blame for the widespread failureof agriculture in many Indian regions, but it all appears directly connected to the introduction of GMs in the 1990s. TheU.K. Independentreport states that the Indian government removed cotton subsidies in 1997, which resulted in a significant profit loss for many cottonfarmers. But during that same year, GM varieties of cotton were also introduced, which many attribute directly to the crop failures that left the agriculture sector largely in ruin.

"Every suicide can be linked to Monsanto," explained scientist Vandana Shiva to theU.K. Independent. After subsidies were lifted, the cost of cotton production rose dramatically, especially when GM cotton was introduced because it required the application of expensive pesticides and herbicides. Natural varieties of cotton, on the other hand, do not necessarily require chemical applications to grow and flourish. And since farmers can save and reuse natural seeds every year, all is not lost during years of poorer yields because farmers can often try again the next year.

But in the GM crop paradigm, the stakes are far higher. Farmers must borrow large sums of money to invest in GM technology. They do so based on promises that yields will increase and profitswill soar. But when the promises fail to pan out and farmers are unable to keep paying for the expensive pesticides, they typically end up losing everything, including access to reusable heirloom seeds. So, many end up killing themselves because they literally have nothing left.

The introduction of GM agriculture in Indiashifted the agricultural economy from one of biodiversity to monoculture, which is hugely significant in India's agricultural failures. Rather than grow a variety of different heirloom crops that each respond differently to periodic changes in climate -- which Indian farmers have always done prior to the introduction of GM crops -- many farmers began to grow only one single GM variety. And when conditionsturned out not to be favorable for that crop, both economically and in terms of climate conditions, disaster ensued. In fact, one statistic from a government report in India states that more than 90 percent of known suicide victims were in debt, which was largely brought about when farmers took the plunge into GM crops from their former methods.

The globalization of agriculture in general has dramatically increased poverty in India, as crop subsidies in other nations began to affect Indian agriculture, driving down crop profits. Indian farmers have lost billions of dollars over the years from having to compete in the global agricultural marketplace rather than grow their own biodiverse crops to feed their own people. Global powers have literally robbed India of its self-reliance and self-sustenance in the name of "ending poverty" by thrusting upon them a system of monopolized agriculture controlled and operated by companies like Monsanto. And unless India somehow secedes from the global system of corruption, conditions will only become increasingly worse for its people.
